by Ched Follis Although it’s still winter, FKR is looking forward to the official start of the racing season with the upcoming club race at SIMA Raceway in Sumas, WA. This is our home track and is also home base for our chassis and 2-stroke engine supplier, Italian Motors/Italkart. Claudio and Michael Valiante manage the program and are our fearless leaders. Michael, Claudio, and the employees at SIMA provide a great deal of support and leadership for our team and we wouldn’t exist without their help. We have some exciting team news to announce: we’re starting out 2017 with new equipment, personnel, and partners! First, we have added two new drivers to our core team:
We have partnered with WR Motorsports for the 2017 season. This is a huge deal for us. Wagner Rossi owns WR Motorsports and is the distributor for the Le Cont tires in the U.S. Wagner is an awesome guy and we would be unable to put our current schedule together without his help. Monroe Jordan worked very hard on our proposal with WR and without his hard work, we never would have put this deal together. FKR has also purchased a new Rapido V1 from Italian Motors to replace the Briggs 206 kart that Jeff Janders races. This kart will have its debut at the SIMA race on March 4th and 5th, and will then head off to Redding, CA for the Super Regional 4-stroke race at the Shasta Kart Racing facility. Jeff will be racing in the Masters division and Kevin Janders will be representing us in the Senior class at this race. We have an ambitious schedule this season and expect to be at a race track racing or testing nearly every weekend. Although our schedule isn't finalized, we expect to be racing at local club races, NW Gold Cup, Can-Am, F-Series, and other stand-alone races. Last year was FKR’s first in kart racing and we saw success both on and off the track and we expect to improve on those this year. We have a great group of people involved and each one provides a unique talent and exhibits fantastic team ethic. It is a blessing to be able to work with each one and we are hoping for big things to come. Please take a peek at our updated schedule (we’ll announce additional dates as we make commitments). Big thanks to everyone involved, and I’ll see you at the track. #kartingrocks #ItalianMotorsRocks #FKRrocks
