![]() by Monroe Jordan "That was by far the most exhilarating race of my career.” This is the sentiment expressed by Monroe Jordan, as FKR Italkarts swept the top four positions in the first heat race at Pacific Grand Prix on March 5th. Freshly-mounted LeCont slicks overcame damp track conditions making for epic wheel-to-wheel racing, and FKR drivers never fell short of the top 5 throughout the day. The rain clouds parted ways for the first time this winter, clearing not just the skies but the minds of we Pacific Northwest racers. With the end of winter in sight, we’re hitting the track with a swagger. Contributing to this confidence is the new collaboration that Follis Kart Racing and Monroe Jordan have with LeCont and WR Motorsports. The March 5th weekend at PGP was our first occasion to use the LeCont tire in competition. We’ve been eager to put these tires to the test all winter, and the excitement throughout the team about our new partners was prominent. Big boss Ched stacked the field with a line-up of drivers aboard the factory-supported Italkart chassis, all competing in the growing Briggs & Stratton LO206 class. Familiar faces Monroe Jordan, Kevin Janders, Jeff Janders, and Leonardo Borrego set the pace for newcomers Jack Wu, Edison Liu, and a local news reporter, John Langeler. These guys don’t get out on the track by themselves, so to top off this fleet of drivers we had 4 generous volunteer mechanics to lend a hand; personal friends and racers to further develop relationships within the sport. FKR takes pride in inviting new blood to the sport and offering a way in to interested people. Monroe Jordan sold 2 of the new guys his 2016 season karts and is proud to welcome newcomers into the sport. ![]() The day’s final race consisted of a surprisingly thinned out pack. Kevin Janders lead the way from the start until the last corner on the last lap where a wheel-to-wheel finish across the line against one of Northwest’s bests, Craig Collins, made for an exciting finish. Jeff Janders came in third and Monroe Jordan was fourth aboard a dated, struggling chassis. "Despite my result, myself and the team are extremely impressed with the performance of the LeCont tire. It was clear that the consistency of the tire throughout the duration of the races was prominent over the MG tire counterpart. We saw consistent times set and no obvious fall off in performance all day long," states Monroe Jordan. Onward and upward from here as we look forward to a busy 2017 schedule. We're sending drivers Monroe Jordan and Kevin Janders to North Carolina to represent us and LeCont for the season premiere of the Gearup F-Series Championship on March, 25th. Jon Jordan, Jeff Janders, and Leonardo Borrego will be assisting them as mechanics. The best is yet to come! #kartingrocks #fkrrocks #LeContTires #WRMotorsports
